Effective date: August 26, 2026
Short version: Cntct helps you build habits and hit goals with a real accountability partner. If you choose to connect your contacts, we send your contacts' names, phone numbers, and email addresses to our servers only to check which of them are already Cntct users, so you can invite them as a partner. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
We collect the following categories of information when you use the Cntct app:
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and/or phone number, and use Firebase and Supabase to authenticate you and store your account securely.
The goals, habits, streaks, check-ins, notes, and reminders you create in the app, which are stored in our database so they sync across your devices.
If you grant the Contacts permission, we access the contacts stored on your device. See Your Contacts / Address Book below for exactly what we do with this data.
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (e.g. which screens are visited, which features are used) and Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and error logs so we can fix bugs. This data is tied to an anonymous device/installation identifier, not directly to your contacts.
If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver reminders and accountability updates to your device. This requires a device push token, which is not shared outside of Google Firebase and our own servers.
This section explains, in full, what happens when you allow Cntct to access your contacts.
With your permission, the app reads the contacts stored on your device, including names, phone numbers, and email addresses. Any additional fields on a contact (such as a photo, physical address, or notes) are stored only in the app's local database on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
To help you find friends and family who are already using Cntct, the app sends the normalized phone numbers and email addresses from your contacts to our servers. Our servers check these values against our list of registered users and return only which of those phone numbers/emails already match a Cntct account. This lookup:
When you invite a contact as an accountability partner and they accept, we store the resulting partnership (which two accounts are connected) so that shared goals, check-ins, and reminders can work between you.
We use the information described above to:
We do not sell your personal information or your contacts' information. We do not share it with advertisers. We share data only with the service providers that help us run the app, acting as our processors under their own security and privacy commitments:
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Cntct or our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.
We retain account and app data for as long as your account is active. Contact data you've imported stays on your device and is removed when you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. You can request deletion of your account and associated server-side data at any time by contacting us at samora@tsoratech.co.za.
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using commercially reasonable safeguards.
Cntct is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at samora@tsoratech.co.za.
